Lincoln Barrington Minott (aka Sugar Minott), Como muchos otros artistas jamaiquinos, comenzó a involucrarse en el negocio de la música cuando terminó sus estudios, en el caso del pequeño Lincoln, la venta de discos y la participación en un pequeño Sound System llamado Sound of Silence Keytone, fueron la mejor forma de comenzar para este pionero del Dancehall.

Actualmente Sugar Minott conduce su "Youth Promotion Music Center" en el 1 Robert Cresent, en Kingston, donde continúa con su labor musical que le han permitido tener sucursales que distribuyen sus discos directamente en Alemania, Inglaterra y Nueva York.
